Reducing CO₂ emissions is a key goal for the foundry industry. According to the company, Alpine Metal Tech's metal powder marking machine now offers a completely emission-free marking solution.
Instead of natural gas or methane, the Metal Powder powder marking machine uses hydrogen as fuel for the gas flame that melts the powder. The result: clean ignition, an even flame pattern, and good contrast and adhesion of the marking—without compromising marking quality.
Products can be marked at temperatures of up to 1100°C
The metal powder marking machine was developed to apply clearly visible and long-lasting markings that can be read from a great distance. Thanks to the use of aluminum oxide powder, products can be marked at temperatures of up to 1100°C without fading.
The marking is done by blowing the metal powder through a gas flame to melt it onto the surface of the product.
The marking housing, which serves as the housing and heat shield for the marking system, is mounted either on a multi-axis machine or on a robot. In addition to the marking system, the marking housing contains a descaling unit for removing loose material from the marking surface. The descaling unit is also used to detect the product. The marking head is ignited via an external ignition system and the powder is transported from the powder container to the marking head. The writing movement is then executed, and the marking powder melts with the material, creating clearly visible marks.
Thanks to innovative solutions, completely emission-free marking can be achieved. Instead of methane, hydrogen is used as fuel for the gas flame that melts the powder.
Advantages at a glance:
- High application temperature – up to 1100 °C without fading
- Large, clear symbols ensure high visibility, even for crane operators.
- Long-lasting marking and therefore high traceability
- Automated cleaning processes reduce maintenance requirements
- Green marking technology – emission-free marking thanks to hydrogen
