The other business units will remain in the possession of Mutares SE & Co. KGaA. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. The transaction is now subject to the fulfillment of various closing conditions, which must be met in the fourth quarter for the acquisition to be legally completed.
With the integration of Buderus Edelstahl, the GMH Group is consistently pursuing its strategic growth agenda: It is strengthening existing production areas, opening up new market segments, and increasing service quality for its customers.
“We are very pleased to integrate Buderus Edelstahl into our group, a company that ideally complements our portfolio in two key areas,” explains Dr. Alexander Becker, CEO of the GMH Group. “The mechanical processing and heat treatment of highly complex open-die forgings and the hot rolling mill for large dimensions are an excellent fit with our strategic business areas of ‘Circular Economy,’ 'Green Steel,‘ and 'Heavy Forging.’”
The GMH Group plans to integrate the operating units of Buderus Edelstahl into the group in the fourth quarter. “We look forward to welcoming our new colleagues to the GMH family soon. The mutual exchange and further development of the locations offer exciting prospects for everyone involved,” says Dr. Anne-Marie Großmann, CDO of the GMH Group.
About the GMH Group
The GMH Group is a full-range supplier of steel as a raw material, smelted from scrap, through to ready-to-assemble components. It is one of the largest privately owned metalworking companies in Europe. The group comprises 20 medium-sized production companies in the steel, forging, and casting industries, which are represented in more than 50 countries. With around 6,000 employees, the GMH Group generates annual sales of around 2 billion euros. The GMH Group is a pioneer in sustainable steel production and has been accepted into the “Association of Climate Protection Companies.” Based on the recycling of metal scrap, the company produces green steel and thus makes an important contribution to the circular economy. The use of electric arc furnaces at four locations reduces CO2 emissions by a factor of five compared to conventional blast furnaces. This also reduces the carbon footprint of the customers supplied by GMH. These include companies worldwide from the automotive industry, mechanical and plant engineering, railway technology, energy generation, transport logistics, aerospace, agriculture, and construction machinery. The GMH Group has set itself the goal of becoming completely climate-neutral by 2039. www.gmh-gruppe.de.
